• Monday, March 27, Membership Committee meets at noon at Sisley Italian Kitchen.
  The call to order will be at 12, so your arrival by 11:45 am would be helpful.  Latecomers are not briefed on what they missed until the end of the meeting.  Sisley is located at 15300 Ventura Blvd.  There's validated parking in the structure behind the restaurant.  Order from the menu.
  
  We will meet in the alcove near the hostess stand.
  
  We'll have results to date of the survey of members.  Then we need your ideas of how best to respond to interests and concerns noted in the survey.
• Wednesday, March 29, our Government Affairs Committee meets at Bamboo.
  The call to order is at 12 noon, so please come early.  Staff of our elected officials and members of the Studio City Chamber are expected to join us for a lively discussion on "issues of the day."  Remember, there's a California Primary Election in June with candidates for many offices and a number of issues on the ballot.  Bamboo is located at 14014 Ventura Blvd.  If you park in front, be sure to connect with the valet which also serves Café Bizou.
• Wednesday, March 29, our New Member Orientation starts at 5:30 pm in the offices of Smith Barney.
  Program begins promptly at 6:00 pm.  Smith Barney is in Suite 1900 (19^th floor) of the building at 15260 Ventura Blvd.  City National and Washington Mutual Banks are on the ground floor.  Validated parking in the rear structure which is entered from Ventura Blvd...  No cost to those who joined the Chamber during the last 6 months or so.  Reservations requested by reply to this email or call 818-906-1951.
• Thursday, March 30 is a Scotch Dinner presented by IL Tiramisu, 13705 Ventura Blvd.

• Thursday, March 30, Governor Schwarzenegger and US Health Secretary Leavitt present "California and Los Angeles Prepare."
  This summit for health and social services leaders is designed to raise awareness of pandemic influenza.  It takes place from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel.  Registration online at http://www.applications.dhs.ca.gov/panflu.
• Friday, March 31, Golf Committee meets 9:00 am at Prudential Realty, 13300 Ventura Blvd.

• Golf Tournament brochures are now available.
  The tournament takes place on Monday, May 8, 2006 at Porter Valley Country Club in Northridge. You haven't learned how to play golf?  Well, you can raise your visibility with hundreds of people by taking a sponsorship!  A few dollars will get you a sign at a hole, or on the Country Club fence, or in the dinner printed program.  Check it out!

  Thanks to Photography and Video by Zarek, the Web listing of our Board of Directors has a photo taken at a January meeting beside the name and address of most Board members.  If you're not a frequent meeting attendee, these photos will help you know who's who when you are able to attend.  Zarek plans another photo session for those who missed the January meeting, so keep checking.

• April 19, USC presents Real Estate Law and Business Symposium at Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

• May 7, Millikan Middle School is having a fundraising Gala at CBS Studios.
  Details available from Gala Chair Annette at 818-752-6000.  Millikan PTA is a Chamber member and the school is a recipient of funds from our annual Street Fair.
  
• Friday, June 9, UCC will present its Annual Small Business Award breakfast.
  Our Marketing Committee is accepting nominations for this Award and also for the Fernando Award.
  
  UCC focuses on a business owner who has been especially helpful in the San Fernando Valley or in his/her own community.  Fernando looks for someone who has been involved for a lifetime in the social, educational, religious, and philanthropic parts of our life in the Valley.  Nominations for each may be sent to the Chamber office by email at ourchamber@aol.com or by fax to 818-783-3100.
  
  Past recipients of the UCC Small Business Award include: A & A Specialty Advertising, Valley Inn, RE/MAX On the Blvd.  Past recipients of the Fernando Award include: J. Richard Leyner (NAI Capital Commercial), Karl Boeckmann  and Bert Boeckmann (Galpin Motors), Ruth Richter (Harley Motorcycle dealer in Winnetka), Flip Smith (Flip's Tire).
