• Saturday & Sunday, June 2nd & 3rd 10am - 10am -  - American Cancer Society's 6th Annual Valley Relay for Life - 24-hour event which symbolizes the difficulty that cancer patients face in just one 24-hour period. Teams of about 10 participants will "camp out" and take turns walking or running around the track for a full 24-hours. These participants will collect donations prior to the event, so the actual Relay for Life is quite a party.  Cancer survivors are honored at the event, and walk the opening lap.  At 9pm, the lights go out for our Luminaria (candle lighting) ceremony, during which we honor those who have won their battle against cancer, and we remember those who didn?t.  All night long the participants walk along this candle-lit track.  Relay is definitely a celebration of life?it?ll make you laugh, cry and be forever touched. • Wednesday, June 6th - 6:30 pm - Anti-Graffiti Activist Training Session - The Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council is teaming up with Councilwoman Wendy Greuel's office for the "Adopt-a-Wall/Anti-Graffiti Activist Training Session." VIVA Gallery, 13261 Moorpark St., Sherman Oaks (Moorpark and Fulton). Food will be served. This training session will provide you with the tips and tools on identifying (tagger vs gang) and eradicating graffiti in your neighborhood. Joining us will be the LAPD Tagger Task Force, New Directions for Youth, Office of Community Beautification and members from Councilwoman Greuel's staff. Let's make Sherman Oaks Graffiti Clean!
