A Celebration of Community Since 1991

Angela Clair
2006 Sherman Oaks
Street Fair Chairman

As this year's Street Fair Chairman, I would like to invite you and your business or organization to become a sponsor of the 16th annual Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce Street Fair, which will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 21 and 22, 2006. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your business or organization's products and services to the community.

The Street Fair is the largest community event in the San Fernando Valley, attracting more than 80,000 visitors each year. Due to its overwhelming success, the Fair will become a two-day event in 2006. We will close Ventura Blvd. between Van Nuys Blvd. and Kester Ave., in an effort to celebrate our community and support our local public schools.

The Street Fair is a partnership between the business community and Sherman Oaks public schools. Since its inception in 1991, the Street Fair has generated nearly $300,000 for local elementary and middle schools. And, we have added one more school to the list of this year's recipients.

Sponsors receive visibility both at the Street Fair and through the promotion of the event. Your business visibility is further enhanced by including your company logo on our Website from the time of your commitment throughout the calendar year.

These pages here describe the benefits of the different levels of sponsorship. Please review and make plans to join us for this official Valley of the Stars event.

The Sherman Oaks Street Fair attracted more than 80,000 visitors and nearly 200 vendors in 2005, making it the largest community event in the San Fernando Valley.

POSTER CONTEST

Poster
What better way to celebrate the Sherman Oaks Street Fair than to have students from our local public elementary schools design the commemorative poster for our annual event!

The Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce sponsors this contest, which is open to all students in grades 3-5 of our local public elementary schools. The contest is a great way to involve and connect students with the street fair and our community. Since it's inception in 2003, approximately 400 students have participated with their artwork.

Students will design a picture which best represents to them the idea of community and family fun associated with the fair. The drawings are judged by the Street Fair Committee. Elements of the winning pictures are then incorporated into the commemorative poster, which allows for a variety of winners! The posters will be distributed throughout the community to help promote the event. All drawings submitted will be on display at the Fair October 21 - 22, 2006

Elected Officials Support Sherman Oaks Street Fair

1
"I want you to get involved in our Street Fair, the premier community event for Sherman Oaks. It's an event that brings the community together. It brings our family together. And it raises money for our five elementary schools here in Sherman Oaks and for other community projects. Hope to see you here in October and I hope you'll be one of our sponsors."

Honorable Brad Sherman, Member of Congress

"The Sherman Oaks Street Fair is the premiere community event in the San Fernando Valley. It is an event that benefits our local schools in our community. It is a wonderful opportunity for your business to be highlighted. Come and enjoy and have a great time and help support the Street Fair."

Wendy Greuel, President Pro Tempore of the L.A. City Council

Street Fair "Kick off" and Sponsor Recognition Luncheon

The Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce annual Kick Off luncheon is a way to say thank you to our sponsors, Grand Marshals and everyone associated with putting on the Street fair. The luncheon would not be possible without the support and enthusiasm of everyone involved.

Besides the great food, the attendees spend time with our Grand Marshal. In the past, we have had book signings by 2003 and 2004 Grand Marshals Coach John Wooden and Marge Hearn. Bob Herzberg and Screamin' Scott Simon commanded our attention at the 2005 luncheon. This year's luncheon on Thursday, October 19, 2006, will feature another notable Grand Marshal: Bryan Cranston.

Former California State Assembly Speaker Bob Herzberg and Screamin' Scott Simon of Sha-Na-Na were the Grand Marshals in 2005.
