14th Annual Sherman Oaks Street Fair
Bring the Whole Family!
Have you dreamed of holding a party in a public place - with official permission? Do you reminisce about the days of pony rides and cotton candy and hanging out with friends?
It's almost time for the Sherman Oaks Street Fair where we'll close Ventura Boulevard for ½ mile and party in the street! Where pony rides and a climbing wall will entice your children (or grandchildren). Where your gift-giving needs can be met by items made by the artist who tells you of his/her time spent creating just for you. Where you can meet contractors and insurance agents and bankers and get acquainted with a caring individual.
Our Street Fair Planning Committee is hard at work in an effort to assure that Sunday, October 24 is a fun family day for the San Fernando Valley and for Sherman Oaks. Committee members are currently looking for additional Star Sponsors, a category restricted to Sherman Oaks Chamber members, affording you listing in the newsletter and on our Website as well as VIP access within the Fair.
We are pleased to announce that 2004 brings a Grand Marshal duo to Sherman Oaks. Mrs. Chick Hearn (Marge) and Doug McIntire of KABC Radio will share the honors at the kick-off luncheon and during the Fair itself.
The poster shown above is comprised of drawings made by students at Sherman Oaks Elementary and Riverside Drive Schools. We're proud of the design talent of youngsters whose schools will benefit from Street Fair proceeds. Special thanks go to the staff of Dragonfly Design Group for turning the photos into a keepsake poster that is a knockout in full color.

Established in 1991, the Sherman Oaks Street Fair was the first event of its kind to take place on Ventura Boulevard. The 2003 Street Fair drew a record crowd of over 100,000, making it the largest community event in the San Fernando Valley. Free of charge to all visitors, the event is a showcase for local businesses.
The primary beneficiaries of the Street Fair have been local Sherman Oaks Public Schools, for which over $250,000 has been raised. Today, the event continues to support our schools and other community projects.
In 2004, the fun and excitement of the Street Fair has been significantly extended through community marketing efforts and pre-event promotions, which are mentioned in this sponsorship package. Also, the Sherman Oaks Street Fair is an official Valley of the Stars Event, underscoring its regional marketing significance.
